This policy explains how authors, reviewers and editors of JQST may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models.

Authors

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authorship requires accountability that only people can take.
  • Any use of AI tools in writing, data analysis, image creation or code must be described in the Methods or Acknowledgements section, naming the tool and how it was used.
  • Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality and integrity of all content, including any part produced with AI help, and for checking all references.
  • Basic spelling and grammar tools do not need to be declared.

Reviewers

  • Manuscripts under review are confidential. Reviewers must not upload any part of a manuscript or their review into AI tools.
  • The scientific assessment and the recommendation must be the reviewer’s own work.

Editors

  • Editors must keep submissions confidential and must not upload them into AI tools.
  • Editorial decisions are made by people, not by AI tools.

Undisclosed use

If undisclosed or inappropriate AI use is found before or after publication, the journal will handle it under its publication ethics and plagiarism procedures, which may lead to rejection, correction or retraction.
